伊利采矿公司新采用一种比旧卸车系统快12倍的自动卸车系统,使伊利采矿公司从霍脱湖到明尼苏达州铁燧石港运输高品位铁矿石的119.09公里铁道运输能力增加一倍。在新式卸车系统中,底卸式铁道车箱(载重86吨)是借汽车外轮胎开箱,此轮安装在矿车运行方向的右侧,并沿倒置铁轨滑动。因为列车是不停的,故100辆矿车组成的列车能在5分钟内卸完(1961年平均为15分55秒)。车门是用装在车箱左侧的同样装置关闭。
Erie Mining adopted a new unloading system 12 times faster than the old unloading system, doubling Eryshire’s 119.09-kilometer rail capacity from Lake Hood to high-grade iron ore at the Intelson, Minnesota. In the new unloading system, the bottom-loading railway car (86 tons) is unpacked by the outer tire of the car, which is mounted on the right side of the car’s running direction and slides along the inverted rail. Because trains are nonstop, trains consisting of 100 trolleys can be unloaded within 5 minutes (1561 on average in 1961). The door is closed with the same device on the left side of the car.
