最近几年来对脑血管疾病的诊断有了很大的革新,特别是CT 检查(带电子计算机的X 线轴性脑扫描)开始应用,其次是各种脑血管造影(连续性、选择、超软)、超声波(包括自动中线脑回声图、回声血流量图等)、同位素脑扫描以及局部脑循环测定等的应用。大大提高了脑血管疾病诊断的正确性,并有利于正确掌握病情的动态,加上显微外科手术的引进,因此脑卒中的外科治疗有了显著的进展,特别出血性脑血管病降低了病死率。目前脑血管疾病急性期治疗的总原则为:高血压以外科治疗和内科治疗并重,视网膜下腔出血以外科治疗为主,缺血性脑血管病则以内科治疗为主:
