前不久,我校外语部举办了首届“英语演讲比赛”(English Speech Contest).参赛选手们大多准备充分,口齿清晰,气氛热烈,比赛取得了圆满成功.不过,从他们运用语言本身这个角度去看,问题还是不少的.其中主要表现为把汉语式的思维模式套用到英语里面.有的句子甚至明显是错误的.例如,有的同学在介绍自己时想表达“不要认为我是一个不知天高地厚的人”和”我们必须学会用自己的腿走路”时,就分别说成了“Don’t think I’m a man of not knowing how highthe sky is and how deep the earth is!”和“we must learn to walk with our own legs”这里涉及到了英汉语义的差别问题.下面我试图从几个方面与大家共同探讨一下这个问题.
Not long ago, the first “English Speech Contest” was organized by the Foreign Language Department of our school, and most of the contestants were well-prepared, articulate and warm, and the competition was a success.
