对于学生学习外语来说,他们缺乏动力。因为据他们看来,外部世界距他们很遥远。他们视外语学科如其它学科一样,认为学习就是为了应考。关于学生用书,众多的严格控制性练习和不间断的测试,极大地限制了学生思维活动。因此,学生有时感到教材枯燥乏味。再一点是当学生与操本族语的外国人交谈时,他们还需不时地使用母语,才能表达清楚自己的意思。这种英语加汉语的表达方式减弱了学生们的学习热情和兴趣。学生们会认为自己永远也不会掌握一门外语。因此,英语教师应该而且必须经常地激励学生。
For students to learn a foreign language, they lack motivation. Because according to them, the outside world is far away from them. They regard foreign language subjects as other disciplines, think that learning is to take the test. With regard to student books, numerous rigorous and controlled exercises and uninterrupted testing greatly limit student thinking activities. As a result, students sometimes feel dull and tedious. Another point is that when students talk to native-speaking foreigners, they also need to use their native language from time to time to express their own meaning. This English-Chinese expression has weakened students’ enthusiasm and interest in learning. Students will think they will never master a foreign language. Therefore, English teachers should and must often motivate students.
