The Communist Party of China （CPC） in Dialogue With World Political Parties HighLevel Meeting was convened in Beijing from November 30 to December 3. With Working Together Toward a Community With a Shared Future for Humanity and a Better World： Responsibilities of Political Parties as the meeting’s theme， participants from across the world had indepth exchanges on important issues and reached extensive consensus. The Beijing Initiative proposed by the meeting refl ects the wisdom and thoughts of the participating political parties.
This meeting was the fi rst major multilateral diplomatic event hosted by Beijing after the 19th CPC National Congress in October， and the fi rst high-level dialogue between the CPC and various political parties from around the world. The CPC erected this platform in response to the hope of the international community， political parties in different countries in particular， to systematically know about the spirit of the 19th CPC National Congress， particularly the content of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era， and also the CPC’s proposals on the building of a community with a shared future for mankind and a better world.
Meanwhile， this was not only a platform for political parties from other countries to know about the CPC； the CPC also availed itself of this opportunity to have discussions and exchanges on an equal footing with a view to coping with development diffi culties and common challenges facing mankind. This meeting helps to round up more wisdom and power to build a community with a shared future for mankind.
More than 600 representatives of nearly 300 political parties and organizations from more than 120 countries attended the meeting. The scale and profi le of this gathering is unprecedented in the history of world political party exchange. The presence of political parties at the event， regardless of differences in geography and ideology， exhibits the CPC’s infl uence in the world.
In his keynote speech at the opening ceremony， Xi Jinping， General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee， pointed out a direction and approach for the building of a community with a shared future for mankind. He also put forward the CPC’s initiative to the world’s political parties on how to seek peace and promote development and proposed the setting up of a new model of party-to-party relations so as to better bring political parties’ role into play.
Political parties shoulder important responsibilities in today’s rapidly changing world. Therefore， high-level dialogues between political parties of different countries should be made regularly to help them deepen exchanges and joint efforts to promote the building of a community with a shared future for mankind and a better world.
