American researchers’ results show that in the United States in 2015 alone, the lack of a healthy diet or the ingestion of a large number of unhealthy foods may be directly related to the occurrence of more than 400,000 cardiovascular diseases. The researchers point out that taking in more heart-healthy foods or taking less salt and trans fat may save the lives of thousands of Americans every year. Lower levels of healthier food intake and higher levels of unhealthy food intake may be major contributors to cardiovascular deaths in the United States. Among them, healthy foods include nuts, vegetables, whole grains and fruits, while unhealthy dietary components include salt and trans fats.
