Objective To investigate the changes and clinical significance of urinary albumin (UALB), von Willebrand factor (vWF) and platelet activating factor (PAF) in type 2 diabetic patients. Methods The subjects were divided into five groups: diabetic nephropathy patients (group A), type 2 diabetic patients without nephropathy complications (group B), impaired glucose tolerance (group C), first-degree relatives with type 2 diabetes mellitus with normal glucose tolerance D group). No subjects with normal family history of type 2 diabetes mellitus (E group), 30 cases in each group. The levels of UALB, vWF and PAF were detected and analyzed statistically. Results The contents of UALB and PAF in group A were significantly higher than those in the other four groups (P <0.01), while there was no significant difference in UALB and PAF among the other four groups (P> 0.05) Significance (P <0.05). Conclusions The patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus have renal dysfunction and platelet activation, and their changes are in synchronicity. It suggests that the vascular injury is related to the increase of PAF.
