Objective To explore the protective status, exposure level, management status and the impact on workers’ health of low concentrations of benzene series workers in enterprises in the region and provide evidences for enterprises to formulate health monitoring strategies and take effective measures to protect their health. Methods The status quo of enterprises’ workplaces was investigated and the concentrations of benzene, toluene and xylene in the air were monitored. Occupational health monitoring was conducted for workers exposed to low levels of benzene, and the workers who did not contact with benzene in the corresponding enterprises were taken as control. Guardianship data for statistical analysis. Results There were 977 occupational health monitors in the enterprise, 244 (361) abnormalities were detected in all kinds of laboratory tests, and the abnormality rate was 24.97%. The number of white blood cell count decreased in exposed workers with low concentration of benzene series was significantly lower than that in the control group There was statistical significance (χ2 = 39.89, P <0.01). Conclusions Under the current protection status and management measures, the peripheral blood leukocyte count changes obviously occur in workers engaged in low-concentration benzene series, which requires further strengthening the health supervision and improving the working environment for workers with low concentration of benzene series.
