The sealing process of reciprocating mechanical piston-cylinder friction pair piston ring was discussed. Based on the analysis and experimental research, a reasonable calculation method was given. The calculated results of the examples are in good agreement with the measured results. The given calculation method will be helpful for the design analysis and fault diagnosis
