2004年,在党中央、国务院的正确领导下,国民经济保持了平稳较快发展的良好势头。初步核算,全年国内生产总值136515亿元,比上年增长9.5%。其中,第一产业增加值20744亿元,增长6.3%;第二产业增加值72387亿元,增长11.1%;第三产业增加值43384亿元,增长8.3%。(一)农业生产出现重要转机,粮食获得丰收。全年粮食总产量4695亿公斤,比上年增产388亿公斤,增长9.0%,扭转了1999年以来连续5年下降的局面;粮食单产308公斤/亩,比上年增长6.6%。粮食单产和当年粮食增产量均创历史最高水平。棉花产量632万吨,比上年增长30%;油料3057万吨,增长8.8%;糖料9528万吨,下降1.2%。肉类总产量7260万吨,增长4.7%;水产品产量4855万吨,增长3.2%。

The total output of meat was 72.6 million tons, up by 4.7%; the output of aquatic products was 48.55 million tons, up by 3.2%.
