本文讨论认知语言学对二语教学的贡献及其局限性。全文分为三部分。第一部分阐述认知语言学提出的语言三大特点:体验性、隐喻性和理据性。第二部分说明认知语言学对外语教学可能作出的两点主要贡献:(1)为传统的对比分析注入了活力;(2)为解释语言现象提供了理据。第三部分指出认知语言学理论应用到外语教学中的三点局限性:(1)理据不能解释所有的语言现象;(2)理据性知识不是程序性知识;(3)理据解释不完全适合低水平二语学习者。
This article discusses the contribution of cognitive linguistics to second language teaching and its limitations. The full text is divided into three parts. The first part elaborates three major characteristics of language proposed by cognitive linguistics: experiential, metaphorical and motivational. The second part shows two major contributions that cognitive linguistics can make to foreign language teaching: (1) injecting vitality into the traditional comparative analysis; and (2) providing a justification for explaining linguistic phenomena. The third part points out three limitations of applying cognitive linguistics theory to foreign language teaching: (1) reason can not explain all the linguistic phenomena; (2) motivational knowledge is not procedural knowledge; (3) motivation does not fully suit the explanation Low level second language learner.
