由于受到下辽河平原“辽泽”地区恶劣的自然环境影响,历史上辽河平原的交通十分困难。隋唐以前以辽泽南部线路为主干交通线,隋唐东征开拓了跨越辽泽中部的交通线路,辽金元时期干线交通就以跨越辽泽中部的线路为主。明朝出于防御目的,又使辽泽南路成为唯一的主干陆路交通线。清朝“叠道”的修建使主干交通线转到辽泽北路。从清朝末年开始的人为开发,使沼泽逐渐消退,辽河平原的道路交通逐步改善。新中国建立后,建成稠密的运输网络,昔日辽河平原交通困难的状况已经得到根本改观。辽河平原交通线路的变迁除了受到自然因素影响外,统治者出于政治、军事等方面的考虑,也人为地使交通线路发生变化。
Due to the harsh natural environment in the Lower Liaohe Plain and Liaoze Plain, traffic in the Liaohe Plain has historically been very difficult. Before the Sui and Tang dynasties, the southern Liaoze route was the main traffic line. During the Sui and Tang dynasties, the traffic route across the central Liaoze was opened up. In the Liao, Jin and Yuan Dynasties, the traffic on the main route crossed the central Liaoze route. The Qing Dynasty “stacks ” the construction of the trunk traffic line to Liaocun North Road. Artificial exploitation started from the end of the Qing dynasty, the swamp gradually subsided and the road traffic in the Liaohe Plain gradually improved.
