A new type of filter transfer function is derived based on the principle of Wiener filter and Green’s equivalence layer. The function can be used for both uplink and downlink extension to enhance the field data. The newly proposed transfer function is called priority extension operator. Unlike the conventional continuation operator, the continuation response of the continuation operator is preferentially effective on a particular frequency band of the Fourier domain of the observed field. The transfer function response approximates an all-pass filter that is farther away from the frequency band response.
