史载,核桃原产羌胡,即今甘肃玉门关阳关以西,包括新疆等地区.汉时张骞出使西域带回秦中种植,所以核桃又名羌桃、胡桃.现在我国的主要产区仍在华北和西北,如河北的石门核桃、武安核桃,新疆的新疆核桃都是皮薄、出仁率高、出油量大的名种.自古以来,核桃被医家和民间视为滋补强壮之剂.从现代营养学与医疗角度看,它可以称得上是健身益寿的珍品.
