During the period of the occupation of Northeast China, the policy of the Japanese and the Pupils’ government toward Christianity was tightening day by day. The monitoring and control of the church was constantly intensified. With the help of the Japanese Churches, the system of Northeast Christianity was reorganized and transformed into a tool for serving the aggressive policies. Faced with the grim political situation, Western missionaries held a low profile and tolerant attitude. They only held limited protests when it came to the issue of principle. Even so, they failed to stop the decline of the church. The performance of Japanese churches during the war also prompted us to reflect on the role religions play in international issues. The encounter of the Christian Church during the Japanese occupation was a microcosm of the fate of the various religious groups in the pseudo-Manchu system, demonstrating the profound religious impact that the international political game had on them.
