Excerpts from the Latin word citare or citatum, meaning “evoked and invoked”, first stop at the linguistic level, referring to a passage from one book, one author. In ancient rhetoric, abstraction is often a rhetorical style. Musical definition of excerpts generally refers to the incorporation of a relatively short piece of existing music into another piece, or the use of an existing piece of music in a new piece.
