An experimental study on reducing the aerodynamic heating problem by reverse jet of supersonic gas flow was described. The experiment was conducted in a common down-blowing wind tunnel. In a supersonic free-stream with Ma = 4, a hemispherical model was installed and the top of the model was passed The velocity of jet of hot blast nozzle was decreased by jetting cold air flow, which indicated that reverse jetting was a very effective method to reduce the aerodynamic heating of blunt body. At the same time, the effect of total pressure ratio (relative to free flow) on aerodynamic heating was also investigated.
