在翻译过程中,源语文本中所包含的源语文化因素往往造成许多障碍。这些障碍的产生有多方面的原因。译者在克服这些障碍并在译语中重建对等的语言与文化架构时不得不尝试各种手段以实现自己的目的。本文旨在探讨英汉互译过程中文化障碍的主要来源,分析归化与异化两种主要的克服文化障碍的翻译策略,剖析它们在作为缩小译文中英汉文化差距有效手段时的长处与不足。
In the process of translation, source language cultural elements contained in the source language often cause many obstacles. There are many reasons for these obstacles. Translators had to resort to various means to achieve their ends in overcoming these obstacles and in reconstructing their equivalent linguistic and cultural structures in the target language. This paper aims to explore the main sources of cultural barriers in the process of English-Chinese mutual-translation and to analyze the main strategies of domestication and foreignization in overcoming cultural barriers and to analyze their strengths and weaknesses as effective means of reducing cultural differences between English and Chinese.
