In the period of the Republic of China, I referred to her in an improbable manner as “an oriental suit.” The definition of the time from 1919 to 1949 may be a bit vague because some of the designers before 1919 were already in line with the West, especially the large number of books in Western-style framing of the first decade of the 20th century. The start time, as defined by me, is dominated by universality and also the swift and violent period when the Western studies started to move eastward, just in time for the May Fourth Movement.
