论运用教学辅助手段创造教学 “软环境”

  【摘要】该论文根据《九年义务教育英语课程标准》核心理念中“开发课程资源,拓展学用渠道”的要求,结合“2011年第二届‘高教社杯’湖北省高校师范专业技能大赛”优秀选手的教学课例进行系统的分析,提出通过运用教学辅助手段创造教学“软环境”,使学生有效的学习英语语言。

  1.Introduction
  The NNEC makes it clear that English teachers should optimize learning resources,and maximize opportunities for learning and using the language.It requires that teachers should properly utilize and develop teaching resources so as to provide rich and healthy resources that are practical,lively,updated for students’ learning English.Teachers should make full use of various resources such as videos,television programmes,books,magazines and the Internet to create “soft” environment.
  2.Theoretical Review
  Scholars abroad and at home have deep study on “soft” environment,they put forward that it is necessary to create the “soft” environment suitable to personnel training and deepen the education reform in order to bring up high qualificational and innovative persons.The author intends to explore that English student teachers use teaching aids to createand “soft” environment.In this sense,it is indispensable to have an overview of its theory basis.
  2.1 Constructivism Learning Theory
  Zhong Zhixian and Xu Hongjian(2000:65)pointed out that the learning theory regards learning as the process of learners to actively construct the internal mental representation.Constructivism emphasizes on subjective understanding and meaning.Construction of objective things starts from one’s own experience and background,and focuses on learning activeness,sociality and context,meanwhile opposes the simple way of imparting knowledge.
  2.2 Communicative Language Teaching
  Hedge(2000:46-55)discusses five main components of communicative competence.Namely,linguistic competence,pragmatic competence,discourse competence,strategic competence,and fluency.Communicative competence entails knowing not only the language code or the form of language,but also what to say,to whom and how to say it appropriately in any gave situation.Communicative competence includes knowledge of what to say,when,how,where,and to whom.(Wang Qiang,2006:19)
  3.Definition of “soft” environment
  Based on the theory mentioned above,“soft” environment in English class is a kind of atmosphere in which teacher can provide English culture for students and help them build the mode of thinking in English and the way of expressing English.And the “soft” factors include the thinking mode,cultural background,as well as value.In classroom,teacher usually creates “soft” environment by using teaching aids such as CAT,dynamic images,hyperlink music,etc.   4.Practical Employment of Teaching Aids in Creating “Soft” Environment

  Ss:It’s about the rain/love…
  T:Good! It’s about rain / It’s love in the rain.And it’s raining,right?
  Ss:Yes!
  T:Pretty good! So today we are going to learn our new lesson Unit 6 It’s raining.
  【Analysis】The contestant actively creates the “soft” environment in this activity.At beginning of the class,teacher should attract students’ attention,arouse atmosphere in the classrooms so as to lay a good foundation for the further study.During this activity,the contestant firstly greets students in enthusiasm,which largely excites students and makes them willing to take part in the class.Then the contestant uses the hyperlink music Rhythm of the Rain with dynamic rainy image to create the “soft” factors that are cultural background and value.Rhythm of the Rain is a famous original English song which talks about a love story in rain.Original English song is the important element in English culture.By learning this authentic material,students get to know parts of a foreign culture.It satisfies students’ natural curiosity about everything new.Being familiar with Rhythm of the Rain,students feel closer to the English culture.When they hear the same melodies or similar rhymes,they are astonished at the parallels between their own culture and the foreign one.According to the definition of “soft” environment,the contestant successfully employs the teaching aids in English class,creating a kind of atmosphere in which students are accessful to output language.
  5.Comments
  From the above analysis,we can see that the contestant makes full use of teaching aids in creating the “soft” environment during the whole English classroom teaching.For soft factors,the contestant uses the teaching aids such as CAT,dynamic images,hyperlink music,etc to help students form the thinking mode,cultural background as well as value.In soft environment,students can appropriately communicate during the language input and output procedure.
