美国海军是一支世界性的远洋进攻型作战力量,不仅用于海上交战。更多地用于对岸突击、实施两栖登陆、直接攻取敌方陆上目标,因此,以两栖攻击舰为核心的两栖部队在美国海军中具有特殊的地位。事实上,两栖攻击舰与航空母舰、战略导弹核潜艇一起构成了美国海军的三大支柱。两栖攻击舰是目前世界上美国独有的一类战舰,称得上是一种用于两栖作战的航空母舰,主要用于实施垂直登陆突击,也可以实施平面登陆和制海作战。
The United States Navy is a worldwide offshore offensive force and is not only used for fighting at sea.
