1987年经省人民政府批准正式成立,隶属于湖北省民政厅,是一所非营利性的集医疗康复、教育康复、康复科研为一体的残疾儿童康复机构。中心拥有固定资产3000多万元。实验设备300多万元。形成有硕士研究生、本科大专、中专阶梯式结构的专业人才队伍。中心拥有国内外先进听力检测设备和多媒体教学的仪器及康复器械。
