海带(也有叫作江白菜的)是生活在寒带沿海中的一种褐色藻类。在朝鮮的元山到圖門江一帶、苏联的东部庫页岛东西海岸、千島羣島沿岸以及日本的北海道、本州北部等地,都有自然生長的海帶。其中以日本的産量最大。海带的种类很多,据說全世界有30多种,在亞洲地区就有10余种。在日本、朝鮮和苏联等沿海一带,海带大多生長在潮流不急、水質清澄、水深7—8公尺的岩礁上面。在生長繁茂的地区,3—4公尺長(最長的能达到7—8公尺)、30—40公分寬的海帶,鋪滿了礁石,儼然像一片海中的森林。海帶是富有营养而且相当味美的海產食品。
Kelp (also known as Jiang cabbage) is a kind of brown algae living in the frigid sea. There are naturally growing seaweeds in areas like North Korea’s Wonsan-Tumen River, the eastern coast of the Soviet Union’s Sakhalin, the Kuril Islands, Japan’s Hokkaido, and northern Honshu. Among them, Japan’s output is the largest. There are many types of kelp, and it is said that there are more than 30 species in the world, and there are more than 10 species in Asia. In the coastal regions of Japan, North Korea, and the Soviet Union, most of the kelp grows on rocky reefs where the tide is not acute, the water is clear and the depth is 7-8 meters. In lush areas, 3-4 meters long (the longest can reach 7-8 meters), 30-40 cm wide kelp, covered with rocks, like a forest in the sea. Kelp is a nutritious and quite delicious seafood.
