美国在横跨旧金山海湾的新敦巴顿大桥引桥基础工程中,首次大规模地运用了排水板辅以渗水织物排水,部分锯末(减载)充填的深层综合软基处理法,取得很好效果。新桥建成后将取代1927年启用的原敦巴顿公路桥,新桥位于原桥以北27米处。原桥引桥路基,车道系由旁侧挖泥填筑,其上铺放外运填土,再浇筑沥青路面而成。其车道因年久沉降出现空穴,凹陷,致使高潮水入浸,威胁路面,故予以拆除。
