“Affinity” is a novel of Goethe’s old age, when it was released, it aroused great repercussions. In particular, the narrative about incest love is criticized by some critics. It is not until the 20th century critics 1 that they gradually realized the greatness and profoundness of this novel. Through the dual perspectives of literary ethics criticism and ecocriticism, this article analyzes the “affinity”, pointing out that the tragic significance of the novel lies not in the division of the human spiritual world brought about by the reconstruction of ethical order; on the other hand, The construction of nature, the description of nature, and Schiller’s “complete man” in the inner aspect of human spirit form a corresponding relationship.
