卫拉特蒙古准噶尔部首领噶尔丹是活跃于17世纪最后30年我国政治舞台上的著名人物,也是蒙古史、清史研究中争议较多的历史人物。由于有关噶尔丹的汉文史料需待鉴别,托忒文、俄文,特别是藏文史料还待发掘,对其进行全面评述尚有许多困难,本文只是依据作者研究卫拉特蒙古历史时所积累的资料,对噶尔丹一生的政治和军事活动作一力所能及的综述。
