稀土元素在包钢产品中的应用是从1960年开始的,当时我们往钢中添加稀土元素的目的,旨在改善钢的机械性能,节约钢材和扩大使用范围。研试钢种首先从稀土高磷钢着手,后来我们尝到了甜头,逐渐把稀土扩大到钢轨钢、钢管以及钢桩钢等各个方面进行应用。十几年来共试炼稀土钢近万吨,轧制钢材除小部分做为研究试验用之外,而其大部分钢材都交给用户进行使用。通过稀土在钢中应用的研究工作,我们体会到,稀土在钢中应用的历史虽较短,但从理论上或者实践上来看,它还是一个很有发展前途的添加合金元素,因此,必须大力加强,对它进行各个方面的研究。
