A British company has developed a laptop compatible with IBM computers that can operate on batteries for up to 60 hours. Known as the “mobile computer” (MC), this type of computer uses a new type of solid-state memory instead of the usual floppy disk storage commonly used in portable computers. The MC computer was developed by a British company that has a full-size keyboard and LCD display weighing less than 2 kg. A variety of other laptop computers are heavier than it, using the battery as a power supply can only work for a few hours. The MC computer stores its data on a storage chip called Flash. This chip was developed by Intel Corporation. The company acknowledged that the “flash” chip has been looking for a suitable occasion.
