全球的有线电视网络试验表明,准电视点播(Near Video on Demand,简称NVOD)深受用户欢迎,是一项极有发展前途的广播电视业务。不过,用户的欢迎并未使这一新业务在全球得到广泛推广。原因很简单,运营商若想开展NVOD业务,就必须投入大量资金,逐一购买相应的设备,如服务器、复用器、条件接收设备及节目安排应用系统等,令人头疼。 荷兰爱迪德公司在这一领域的研究和开发取得了突破性的成果,该公司率先推出奥斯卡(OSCAR)——NVOD一体化新概念,将节目内容的储存能力、实时复用与电子节目表和加扰功能相结合,使之能直接插接到运营商的网络当中,为运营商进入NVOD市场开辟了一条经济、便捷之路。
