高师美术教育对于基础美术教育应起到引领作用,并且密切关联,基础教育“美术课程标准”明确指出,美术课程具有传承文化的性质。湘西各民族均有丰富、历史悠久的美术文化遗产,了解、掌握地方乡土美术是前提,传承是内涵。这里体现出,一是提炼湘西民间美术、乡土美术资源,应用到高师美术教育中,指引民族地区的中小学基础美术教育的教学观念和方法;二是传承民族艺术,彰显湘西地区的美术教育特色,因地制宜地提高美术教学的效益,同时也是民族地区高校美术师范生的专业化发展的需要。
