OBJECTIVE: To study the in vitro glycosylation products that cause free radical damage in the kidneys. Methods: Normal rats were intravenously injected with glycosylated serum protein (GSP) in vitro for 2 months to observe the effect of GSP on free radical metabolism in the kidney. Results: The GSP-treated rat kidney with advanced glycation end products (AGE) and NBT staining intensity was significantly higher than the control group. Compared with the control group, the activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase (CAT) in the kidney of rats receiving GSP decreased significantly, and the level of urine lipid peroxide (MDA) increased significantly. Conclusion: Exogenous GSP can cause metabolic disorder of free radicals in the kidney of normal rats. The pathogenic effect of glycosylation products is partly caused by oxidative stress injury
