在明代复古文学思潮的影响下,祖楚宗汉成为明代辞赋的理论导向,并一度成为时人和后人的共识。但是实际上,明代辞赋的理论倡导与实际创作之间是相互矛盾的。明代并非仅以祖楚宗汉为作赋标准,而是出现了大量模仿魏晋南朝的辞赋作品,承祧魏晋时期的玄学风尚和沿袭魏晋南朝时期以单对的四六句式为主的赋体模式。这种赋风的产生与明代赋学理论的取向、道教的发展和明代的王学思想因素有关。
