Prostaglandins play an important role in the maintenance of pregnancy, the growth and development of the fetus and the initiation and progression of production. At the full moon, human placentas produce large amounts of prostaglandins, yet little is known about the regulatory steps of their biosynthesis. Intrauterine tissue can produce insulin-like growth factor (IGF-Ⅰ), and human placenta IGF-Ⅰ receptor, speculated that IGF-Ⅰ may affect placenta prostaglandin compounds one of the factors. The present study investigated the effects of IGF-I on placental production of PGE, PGF, PGFM, TXB 2, 6-keto-PGF 1α and hCG.
