Research on the family, especially on the twins, has elucidated the important genetic significance of skin texture. According to the method of counting the number of crest lines between a certain point and measuring the size of the atd angle, and using the correlation coefficient to assess the genetic similarity, skin texture features have been demonstrated to be controlled by an autosomal gene with additive effects. After discussing these theories the author turns to practical aspects and discusses the rules that skin texture can help to solve biological and medical problems.
