陈姓历史悠久,源远流长。古代文献《世本》、《急就章》早有记载,后来由于世代繁衍,成为我国古今常见的六大姓(王李张刘陈赵)之一,宋代编印《百家姓》列为第十姓。近年我国进行人口普查,陈姓已上升为汉族的第五大姓,约占汉族人口的4.5％,总数超过5000万人。此外,陈姓还存在于蒙古、满、回、瑶、苗、土、布依、哈尼等我国少数民族中。
