读下列材料,回答1～2题。日本是世界上建造人工岛成绩最为显著的国家之一。二战后50多年来,已向海洋索取土地达200平方千米,相当于26个香港岛。其中,最为著名的人工岛要数神户人工岛,建设该岛用了近8000万立方米的土石,削平了神户西部的两座山峰。该岛面积为436万平方米,有双层大桥与神户相连。岛上居民达2万多人,商店、学校、医院、邮局、博物馆、公园、体育馆、游泳池、污水处理场等各种设施齐全。
Read the following materials and answer 1 to 2 questions. Japan is one of the countries with the most significant achievements in the construction of artificial islands in the world. In more than 50 years after the Second World War, it has claimed land of 200 square kilometers from the sea, equivalent to 26 Hong Kong islands. Among them, the most famous artificial island is the Kobe artificial island. The construction of the island uses nearly 80 million cubic meters of earth and stone, flattening two peaks in the western part of Kobe. The island has an area of 4,360,000 square meters and is connected to Kobe by a double bridge. There are more than 20,000 residents on the island. Shops, schools, hospitals, post offices, museums, parks, gymnasiums, swimming pools, sewage treatment plants and other facilities are complete.
