Objective To investigate the clinical significance of 24-hour dynamic electroencephalogram (AEEG) in the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of seizures in children. Methods A total of 497 cases with seizure symptoms were treated in our Department of Neurology ward and pediatric neurology outpatient department from August 2007 to November 2009 in our hospital. All of them performed routine electroencephalogram (EEG) and 24-h AEEG examination. Compare Results EEG abnormalities were found in 149 cases (29.98%) in 497 cases, of which 33 cases were epileptiform discharges (6.64%). There were 461 cases (92.76%) of AEEG abnormalities in 24 hours. 302 cases (60.76%) were epileptiform discharges. The χ2 test difference was statistically significant (P <0.01). Conclusions 24 h AEEG can improve the detection rate of epileptiform discharge and is of great significance in the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of seizure disorders in children.
