语言是一种特殊的文化现象,语言本身、语言的学习和运用都不可能脱离文化而单独存在。要掌握和运用一种语言,就必须了解产生这种语言的社会文化背景。在中学英语教学中,教师应当充分了解中西文化的差异,努力提高学生对文化差异的敏感性,消除由于文化差异给教与学带来的障碍,从而使学生达到运用英语有效地进行交际的目的。
Language is a special kind of cultural phenomenon. Language itself and language learning and application can not exist independently of culture. To master and apply a language, one must understand the socio-cultural context in which this language is generated. In middle school English teaching, teachers should fully understand the differences between Chinese and western cultures, strive to raise students’ sensitivity to cultural differences, and eliminate barriers to teaching and learning due to cultural differences so as to enable students to effectively use English to communicate with each other .
