On October 28, 2012, an MW7.7 earthquake occurred on the west coast of Canada. The epicenter was located on the southern section of the Queen Charlotte Fault at the plate boundary, on the Pacific Rim, at a rate of about 6 cm / a relative to the North American plate of the Pacific Ocean Fault strata accumulated to a certain extent the result of rupture. Historical earthquake analysis shows that the earthquake fills the empty area that has existed in the southern section for more than a century. The occurrence of the earthquake may indicate the beginning of a new seismic cycle. In the coming decades, moderately strong earthquakes may be the main fault in this fault zone, and it is unlikely that a magnitude 8 earthquake will occur.
