In 2000, the GDP was 4.8 billion U.S. dollars with a growth rate of 2.97%. The per capita GDP was 155,000 U.S. dollars and the foreign exchange reserves was 20 billion U.S. dollars. [Foreign Trade] Brunei’s foreign trade relies heavily on oil and gas exports, which account for more than 90% of total exports. The total volume of import and export in 2000 was 4.9 billion U.S. dollars, of which 3.4 billion U.S. dollars was exported and 1.5 billion U.S. dollars was imported. Main text imports: machinery and transport equipment, manufactured goods, food, chemicals.
