科研所水工试验室在设计中拥有二厅一场,水工一厅的面积约为1400米~2,已经建成投入使用,该厅内可进行4~6个整体模型试验。水工二厅的面积约为1100米~2,基建工作大体完成,还需要在其中建造玻璃水槽两座,钢水库三座,估计今年三季度可以部分投入生产,今后可利用那些设备来进行断面模型及单体模型试验,二厅内还可以做1~2个较小的整体模型。露天试验场的面积约为3000米~2,希能一气建成,今后可用来进行滑坡涌浪、导流截流及其他面积较大而周期较短的模型试验。整个循环系统由六台水泵供水,流量可达到1300升/秒。平水塔的水头为九米,塔下装有配水管九根,分别把水引到二厅一场。蓄水池及回水槽总共可蓄水1200米~3。
