In the early Ming Dynasty, China took the lead in international shipping center. After 1433, the international shipping center gradually declined. The decline in China offers an opportunity for the rise of European powers. Today, China revitalizes the international shipping center and will import 1 billion tons of imported goods by 2010. The substantial increase in the import of goods will require over 25 billion U.S. dollars of investment in new ships. As a result, it will trigger a new round of investment boom. The recent ship shortage in the dry bulk charter market in the world confirms the problem of underinvestment in ships. In the uncertain economic growth and the revitalization of the shipping center, investment is the most important issue as how to grasp the rejuvenation of the shipping center.
