Abstracts： The traditional architecture culture is broad and proud. The cultural connotation and design concept just bring enlightenment for modern space design. It's important for inheritance of traditional culture to integrate cultural concept，layout，composition and decorative element into modern space design.

The traditional culture is the historical essence and accumulation. If we show national characteristics, we would apply unique design concept and strive to achieve the combination of practice and art by creation of cultural elements.
Firstly, enlightenment about layout of courtyards in the modern space design
For one thing, overall layout of traditional courtyards
The layout of traditional courtyards are characterized by north-south of symmetry and closed independent courtyards，which is a social network system that is formed with courtyard as center, neighborhood as trunk, community as plane, at the same time , which is the living environment consistent with human psychology , traditional culture and harmonious neighborhood. The buildings apply graphite main tone, courtyard-style, street and alley-style, which is symbolized by deep courtyard, wide street, narrow alley, lattices windows. Such as Beijing courtyards are generally in east-west alley, facing to south, and are separated by the north house, south house and west east wing, then are enclosed by a wall to form closed courtyard with a gate located in southeast corner.
We could redesign and recreate according to mode of thinking emphasized connection of all aspects and unity for reference to make efforts to make wanted design sketch.
Anther thing, exclusive layout of traditional courtyards
In the whole space layout of courtyards, there is an ordinary gate located in the northeast corner, and inner with a wall for shelter, There is a spacious courtyard planted trees, various flowers and displayed goldfish in the mid, which is not only the center of layout, but also a place of lighting, walking, rest, housework, in addition, which meets the demands in the function, reflects the formal sense, plays a role in protecting owner private space and brings imaginative feeling.
In the modern space design, we could design a finite space for infinite place to create poetic and desirable space, just as a vivid description about blend of traditional buildings and natural scenery, which brings unrestricted fancy endlessly. At the same time, we could not do a dull design, but explore all aspects deeply and take people's demands into account.
Secondly, enlightenment about composition of courtyards in modern space design
The courtyards also pay attention to the flexible change between composition and space. The express method would be applied in the modern space design and be learned. For instance, we could apply point, line and plane to reflect a sense of balance of overall space. At the same time, we also associate some approach of borrow, divide, isolation to reflect well-proportioned space, The approach play an effective role in the interior space design and bring an extensive and infinite space not a restricted space.
Courtyard interior space design is a divided space by partitions, screens, which play effects on defined space not incomplete segmentation. Thus spacious effects, virtual vibration raise. In order to be development of traditional architecture culture, exploration of essence and highlighting of natural special elements, we could associate interior function and exterior form with awareness.
Thirdly, enlightenment about decorative elements of traditional courtyards in modern space design
In the space of decorative design, we could apply decorative elements to decorate courtyard, in addition, we could process and recreate the circular and swastika pattern caved on the stone. There is lion, hydrangea and all kind of pattern for combination between modern decoration and traditional elements to make utmost to show modern form and ancient connotation.
We could create traditional decoration pattern by refinement, abstraction and simplification. In the procession, traditional decorative connotation would be retained to keep the traditional culture development based on combination betweefunction technology. At last, the traditional component which is familiar with by people is recreated for abstraction, cracking or distortion to attain typical and symbolized single.
At present, we use transplantation and draft for traditional decorative symbol and traditional culture commonly to obtain the new artistic image, to display the application of traditional culture and art, to reflect the extension of craft and technology in decoration, and to show cultural Furnishing Art in the space decoration.
Fourthly, enlightenment about cultural connotation of traditional courtyards in modern space design
Actually, interior concept and exterior form is a relationship of gradual and phenomenon. The characteristic of Beijing courtyard design embrace interior connotation and exterior form permeated with each other.
On the one hand, "harmony between human and natural" and patriarch system
"Harmony between human and nature" would be emphasized in the courtyard design to create harmonious space, which consists with design concept of unity, harmony, transformation. Besides, courtyard design follows the patriarchal ethics and strict rule in the density. However, an unique feeling and elegant sense raised endlessly. Whole space presents might rhythm.
On the other hand, design concept about combination between function and sprit
Traditional courtyard not only meets the function of space, but also pursues the pleasure and enjoyment. Its layout, arrangement embraces self-cultivation, self-possession of courtyards' owner. Nowadays, People pursue original, ecological and artistic design. Significantly, we should obtain and acquire design concept to remain unique quality and current beauty.
When we encounter transition between spaces and spaces, we could set a butter to keep height, volume, tone and style consistence, however, butter setting play a proper effect. After we are aware of these, we should design for customers and take function and spiritual needs into account.
In a short, the culture of traditional buildings is an essence in the world of buildings culture. Chinese buildings culture with national characteristic is of difference from other countries. In addition, design concept about highlighting of function and spirit bring reference for us. If we explore cultural connotation blended into modern space design deeply, national design would spring out, what's more, the Chinese traditional cultural buildings culture would be more and more dynamic.
