2008年3月10日,对西班牙海军的发展来说具有里程碑式的重要意义。这天下午,在纳凡蒂亚造船厂的巨型船台上,西班牙海军历史上最大的战舰“胡安·卡洛新一世”号(L61)战略投送舰承载着西海军重振旗鼓的梦想下水了。下水仪式由西班牙王后主持,众多国防部、海军高官参加。“葫安·卡洛新一世”号虽称战略投送舰,却是地地道道的航母,经过最后舾装及海试后,该舰将于今年12月正式服设,届时它将与“阿斯图里亚斯亲王”号轻型航母并肩,构成西班牙海军远洋打击的核心力量。
