Abnormal bite contact or excessive bite force, causing various parts of the chewing system of pathological damage or adaptive changes called occlusal trauma, and periodontitis is a chronic inflammatory disease, is composed of plaque biofilm Caused by infectious diseases of periodontal tissue, resulting in the destruction of periodontal support tissues - periodontal pocket formation and inflammation, progressive loss of attachment and alveolar bone resorption. In recent years, some scholars have studied occlusal trauma as a kind of independent disease. Some scholars have also studied occlusal trauma as an important local promoting factor of periodontitis. The relationship between periodontitis and occlusal trauma has not been very clear so far. Although the relationship between occlusal trauma and periodontitis has been studied since the early 20th century, there was no strictly controlled animal experimental study until the 1970s. The model of rat periodontitis combined with occlusal trauma plays a very important role in the study of the relationship between periodontitis and occlusal trauma. In this paper, we review the research progress of various modeling methods in the periodontitis and occlusal trauma complex model, in order to provide a reference for the in-depth study of periodontitis with occlusal trauma.
