Diamond production in Autonomous Republic of Sakha, Russia (Yakutia) accounts for a quarter of the world total. The underground mining conditions of several diamonddrown tube deposits in the area are introduced, and the problems encountered in the conversion from open pit mining to underground mining and their solutions are also discussed.
