通州历史悠久、底蕴深厚。地处京杭大运河的北起点,长安街延长线东端;辖区面积912平方公里,现有人口101万,辖11个乡镇,4个街道办事处,483个行政村。区内现共有基层党组织1717个,党员44354名。近年来,通州区委按照“三个代表”重要思想和科学发展观的要求,围绕建设社会主义和谐社会的目标,以党员先进性教育活动为契机,不断探索加强基层党组织和党员队伍先进性建设的新途径、新方法,为建设和谐通州提供了坚强的组织保证。
Tongzhou has a long history and profound connotation. It is located at the north starting point of Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal and the east end of Chang’an Avenue extension line. It covers an area of 912 square kilometers with an existing population of 1.01 million. It has 11 townships, 4 subdistrict offices and 483 administrative villages. There are now 1717 grass-roots party organizations and 44,354 party members in the district.
