Intelsat will decide in June whether to issue bonds and use foreign funds to resolve part of its purchase of satellites. At the June meeting, the committee will discuss the issue of selling 200 million U.S. dollars worth of bonds in Europe. If the bill is passed, these bonds will be repaid with interest for several years. In September, the committee will discuss the sale of US$350 million worth of bonds in the United States. These bonds will be issued by the end of 1992 or early 1993. After 3 to 7 years, this coupon will be repaid. The proceeds from the sale of bonds will be used to purchase and launch two Intelsat 7A satellites (scheduled to be launched in the mid-1990s) and next-generation satellites.
