At present, there are 221 units in the world’s nuclear power plants for more than 20 years and 81 units have been in operation for more than 30 years. Since the beginning of the 21st century, with the improvement of the operational safety of nuclear power plants and due to economic considerations, more and more nuclear power plants still hope or have passed after they have reached the design operating life or the operating license’s permitted operating period Nuclear safety regulatory authority based on the review of the nuclear power plant to continue operation, the nuclear power plant attaches great importance to the life-cycle management. The Second International Conference on Life Cycle Management of Nuclear Power Plants, held in Shanghai from October 15 to October 18, 2007, once again attracted the attention of people. Nuclear power plant experts from all over the world gathered in Shanghai to jointly offer advice and suggestions on nuclear power plant “longevity.” At present, the longest unit of our country is 16 years old. But much has been done in life management. In particular, this publication introduces the status quo and practices of the life management of nuclear power plants in our country, as well as the feasible practices of international life management, with a view to enlightening the life extension of nuclear power plants.
