Procalcitonin is a proinflammatory mediator induced by relevant cytokines. As a secondary inflammatory factor, procalcitonin plays a role in the process of inflammatory reaction. At present, procalcitonin is used as a new indicator to evaluate the clinical infection. Procalcitonin also applied to Kawasaki disease, can reflect the degree of vascular inflammatory changes in children with Kawasaki disease evaluation is helpful. Further study of the interaction between procalcitonin and endotoxin, tumor necrosis factor-alpha and interleukin-6 will help to reveal the process of inflammatory disease development, for Kawasaki disease etiology, disease evaluation And prognostic evaluation will also help.
